Manage and edit layers/objects
You can manage and edit your layers/objects in the layers/objects panel or using commands in the Object
menu in the top menu bar. The following operations are supported.
Select
To manage and edit layers/objects, you should select them first.
To select some layers/object, you can choose the Select and Move tool and then click on the layers/objects you want to select on the canvas.
You can also click on the layers/objects you want to select in the layers/objects panel.
Tips
To select more than one layer/object, you can hold down the command
or shift
key on your keyboard and then click on the layers/objects you want to select.
Tips
To select all objects on the canvas, you can choose the Edit
> Select All Objects
menu in the top menu bar.
Rename
When a new layer/object is created, its name will be automatically generated. You can rename it by double-clicking its name in the layers/objects panel. You can also choose the Object
> Rename
menu in the top menu bar when some layer/object is selected. The name will be changed to the new name after you press Enter.
Delete
There are several ways to delete the selected layers/objects:
- Click the delete key on your keyboard.
- Choose the
Edit
>Delete
menu in the top menu bar. - Choose the
Edit
>Cut
menu in the top menu bar. - Drag them outof the layers/objects panel and then drop them.
- Click the delete button in the bottom of the layers/objects panel.
Duplicate
To duplicate the selected layers/objects, you can choose the Edit
> Copy
menu in the top menu bar. Then you can choose the Edit
> Paste
menu in the top menu bar.
Adjust Opacity
You can choose the Object
> Adjust Opacity...
menu in the top menu bar to adjust the opacity of the selected layers/objects.
Rotate & Resize
You can choose the Object
> Rotate & Resize...
menu in the top menu bar to open the Rotate & Resize
panel.
Flip
You can choose the Object
> Flip Horizontally
or Flip Vertically
menu in the top menu bar to flip the selected layers/objects.
Apply effect
You can choose the Object
> Apply Effect
menu in the top menu bar to choose an effect. The following effects and filters are supported:
- Adjust Colors.
- Invert Colors.
- Black And White.
- Blur.
- Sharpen.
- Crystallize.
- Pixellate.
- Pointillize.
- Edges.
Remove image background
If you have selected some image layer/object, you can choose the Object
> Remove Background
menu in the top menu bar to remove the background of the selected image. The app will detect the background of this image with AI, if it finds a suitable background, it will remove the background automatically. If it can't find a suitable background, it will show you a tip.
Important
This feature is only available on macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
Tips
This feature is aimed to remove the background of some image layer/object, it is different with the Image
> Remove Background
menu which is aimed to remove the background of the whole image. To remove the background of the whole image, please refer to Remove image background.
Arrange
There are several ways to arrange the selected layers/objects:
- Choose the
Object
>Bring Forward
/Send Backward
/Bring to Front
/Send to Back
menu in the top menu bar. - Click the arrange buttons in the bottom of the layers/objects panel.
- Drag and drop them to the desired position in the layers/objects panel.
Group and ungroup
There are two ways to group or ungroup the selected layers/objects:
- Choose the
Object
>Group Selected Objects
/Ungroup Select Groups
/Group All
menu in the top menu bar. - Drag and drop them to or from the desired group in the layers/objects panel.
Lock and unlock
Regularly, all layers/objects are unlocked. And they can respond to your cursor. You can select them by clicking them on the canvas. But, sometimes you don't want them respond to your cursor and you don't want to select them when clicking on the canvas. At this time, you can click the lock button of every object in the layers/objects panel to lock them. You can also choose the Object
> Lock All Objects
/Unlock All Objects
menu in the top menu bar to lock or unlock all layers/objects.
Align
You can choose the Object
> Align
menu in the top menu bar to align the selected layers/objects.
Distribute
You can choose the Object
> Distribute
menu in the top menu bar to distribute the selected layers/objects.
Merge All Objects
You can choose the Object
> Merge All Objects
menu in the top menu bar to merge all layers/objects into one layer/object.
