To print your image, choose File > Print… from the menu bar, or press Command + P.
The Print dialog shows a preview of your document along with options for copies, orientation, paper size, and page setup, plus a Paint S section with Auto Rotate, Scale, and Scale to Fit.
Paint S prints your image on a single page:
- By default, the image is centered within the printable area of the page and scaled down automatically if it is larger than the paper.
- Auto Rotate, on by default, picks landscape for images that are wider than they are tall. Turn it off to keep the orientation you set in Page Setup….
- Scale to Fit offers Print Entire Image, which fits the whole image inside the printable area, and Fill Entire Paper, which covers the printable area edge to edge and trims whatever falls outside it.
- Choose Scale instead to print at a percentage of the image's own size.
- Scaling never adds detail — it spreads the same pixels over a different area, so enlarging prints softer.
- Your print settings (paper size, orientation, and so on) are remembered and become the defaults for the next document.
